Rendering my animation
After completing all elements of my animation I thought it would be cool to finally see the whole thing rendered into one mp4.
In blender you'll want to adjust some settings in in order to render a video so here is how you do it:
Step 1: change your output:
Go to the output tab on the right hand side of the screen.
And change your output settings to the file location you'd like (I know this is basic stuff).
Step 2: In the same output tab change the file output from PNG to FFmpeg video.
Step 3: In the same output tab scroll down to encoding, then change the container to MPEG-4.
Step 4: Finally in the output settings, ensure that your video codec is h.264 (or if you know you'd like to change it then feel free obviously). Also change your settings to what ever you think would fit best - as you can see in the screenshot are the ones I use.
Step 5: In the render tab choose render animation instead of render image.
And there you go. That is how you render an animation.
I had to change a lot of settings to get my final render, but it was worth it..... Maybe? It took quite a while to render - my laptop isn't the best so around 60 minutes.... I know why though - due to my materials: Metallic bronze, silver and gold, the moss material and also the emission materials would be the main culprit. That and also the fact I have lights that are moving in the scene which will add to the render time. Also I have no experience rendering an animation so not sure whether that is good or bad??? Anyway here it is, after the initial render I decided to render a better version because I didn't notice a few mistakes I had made. - I accidentally overwrote the first render as well because I didn't rename the file...Stupid.
