Week 3
This week I completed my 3d block out and began following my schedule.
I planned my schedule based on the most important things to model and how much time they would take.
So by filtering through my updated trello, I used my colour codes to determine how much time I should spend on each item.
I found that:
Green: Green meant I would spend 1 week modelling and unwrapping the model followed by texturing for a week. Meaning all green tasks should take 2 weeks individually.
Blue: Blue meant I should spend 2 weeks modelling and unwrapping along with 2 weeks texturing. So in total spend 4 weeks on Blue tasks.
Purple: One week for everything.
Pink: 3 weeks modelling ad unwrapping, 2 weeks texturing, meaning 5 weeks in total.
Red: 2 weeks for everything.
Orange: No modelling or unwrap to do, just designs so that meant I would spend 2 weeks on the texture, to get it looking as good as possible.
Yellow: Yellow has such a range that it is difficult to pinpoint how long each thing will take, so I have given just 1 week to all yellow tasks.
Now, for this to work I obviously have to overlap tasks and do multiple things alongside each other.
My initial tasks I set myself for next week were to:
Complete sofa model and unwrap. - Green
Begin modelling kettle. - Blue
Complete tip jar model and unwrap. - Purple
Café license texture. - Orange
Model, unwrap, texture plant pot/s - Yellow
These tasks are to get myself into the swing of things and to ensure I do have some assets before modelling the rest of the café.
I also split some of my assets into: needed, nice to have and stretch goals. To ensure I don't try to handle too much at the start.
I've tried to plan my schedule following this idea of the different colours meaning different amounts of time spent on them.
Yellow: 1 week
Purple: 1 week
Green: 2 weeks
Red: 2 weeks
Orange: 2 weeks
Blue: 4 weeks
Pink: 5 weeks
I've also tried to keep my tasks to a max of 7 so I don't overdo it and overload myself with work. Ideally, I would have had 5 tasks max, but due to the length of some tasks I will have to prioritise on the weeks when I have 5+ tasks. I want to work hard but not to a degree to which I won't physically or mentally be able to handle it.
I'm currently putting together the final schedule alongside starting these tasks. For me scheduling has been a challenge because I like to get everything done when I can. However, I'm trying to schedule into depth so that I can be more efficient and become better at time management.
I'll post an update on my schedule tomorrow when I have fleshed it out more.
